Staffan Ekholm: It's a pure innovation challenge
🇸🇪 The interview is recorded in Swedish
“There was a great frustration when interacting with the clients we worked with, as we observed that what needs to happen actually isn't happening. We participated in management meetings with large companies and felt that this issue is not being addressed.
At the same time I found myself at home, lying awake, thinking about this significant change. How all indicators are pointing in the wrong direction; that we are accelerating warming in the wrong direction.
All of us should be doing much more. How is it that large Swedish companies with so many intelligent people cannot take hold of these matters? It was a genuine concern.”
Recently, our CEO Staffan Ekholm visited the podcast Konsultpodden (in 🇸🇪) to talk about his own professional journey, as well as that of Another Tomorrow.
It's no secret that we've made our own pivot and transition during the past 2 or so years, from a more general focus on future-proofing organisations (helping them evolve their business models, customer experience, and offerings through prototyping, innovation, and change management) to focusing that work on helping organisations future-proof themselves for the low-carbon economy. For us, it’s become the no-brainer thing to do, as it’s probably the most existential and sweeping challenge organisations have faced in a long time.
It's truly been a lesson in walking the talk, and applying to ourselves the advice we tend to give our clients when going through change – a process that is still ongoing.
Hear Staffan share his own experience of transitions and innovation, both this one and from his career up to this point, above. And if you’re curious to find out more, send him a message and invite yourself over to our office for a coffee (he doesn’t mention it, but he also makes a mean cappuccino).
“So many things will come to change that it will be a complete disruption. Many companies will need help to adapt and find a way forward.
It's not only a matter of adjusting the carbon dioxide output; of simply ceasing to fuel with diesel and instead use HVO. It's as much about developing new service platforms, products, business models, and partnerships. It's a pure innovation challenge.
The fundamental analysis was that something very significant is happening now. If we believe that we are skilled in change and innovation, then we should focus that on this challenge.”
